Letter from Mayor Richard Maly

small town sealJune 25, 2010

Dear Residents,

The Delaware Solid Waste Authority has increased the tipping rates at their landfills by seventy (70) percent. This rate increase becomes effective July 1, 2010 and affects everyone.

The Town of Camden contracts waste hauling to a contractor. Negotiations, by Mr. James Plumley, our Town Manager, with the contractor have resulted in agreement to pass only a portion of the total increase to Camden residents.

The negotiated increase is $4.25, (the original increase was $13.13), and affects each residential customer as follows:
Current Residential rate       $ 225.00/ year or $ 18.75/ month
Increased Residential rate   $ 276.00/ year or $ 23.00/ month

We strive daily in our efforts to provide the services we all enjoy at a fair and equitable cost. The effort regarding the landfill rate increase is but one example.

We remain at your service and are available to address any questions.

Sincerely,
      Richard E. Maly
      Mayor

Dear Camden Residents:

As newly elected Mayor of Camden, I want to thank all of those who took the time on February 27th to exercise your voting rights. Voter participation at town, county, state and federal levels is needed to preserve our representative governments. All who are elected have the obligation and privilege to work for you. We need to hear your concerns and ideas.

When I take office on April 5, I will make sure that you have opportunities to express your concerns and ideas. With your input, Camden will continue to thrive and we can solve our future problems in ways that are fair to every one.

I look forward to hearing from those who voted, regardless of which ”X” you touched, and from all of those who, for whatever reason, were not able to make it to the polls.

Thank you for your trust.

Richard Maly
